Educational school trip to Kolkata

On Sunday, the 13th of November 2022, our educational trip started with the fourth and fifth graders of our school Mahatma Gandhi Sishu Siksha Sadan, accompanied by our school and hospital staff. Everybody was very excited about it.

The first stop was on the banks of the Rupnarayan river, where we enjoyed a cup of tea in the warm light of the morning sun. Not far away is the house of the famous Bengali author Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay, which we visited afterwards. Located in the middle of this peaceful idyll, the students were able to marvel at his premises.
Then we continued on our way to the capital of West Bengal. The bus ride was characterised by singing and small dance interludes to famous Hindi pop songs.

First stop in Kolkata: Alipore Zoo. In the megacity hustle and bustle, we went to the zoo. Here, the students could use their English vocabulary on the animal world. Particularly impressive and most anticipated by the students were, of course, the Bengal tigers. Only two small fences separated us from them, so we could watch them tigering through their cage. The giraffes, elephants, parrots, and many other exotic animals were also beautiful to watch.

Next stop: Science City. Here the students could explore scientific experiments. There were various stations on optical illusions, pneumatic systems, shot put pendulums, light effects, the globe, and many more.

As it was getting dark, we made a final stop at the James Prinsep Ghat, which lit up brightly in the dark in front of the Vidyasagar Setu (bridge).
On the way back to Kalaberia, things were a little quieter. Many students and also most of the adults were exhausted from this eventful tour. This was the end of a special day that will probably be remembered by the students for a long time.

Thank you to all the organisers who planned this trip. We would also like to thank the hardworking donors, without whom this educational trip would not have been possible.
