Towards Development, Social Justice and Common Good

Message from Secretary

Secretary of SGUS - Copy-min

The journey for social development was started by SARBIK GRAM UNNAYAN SANGHA in the year 1986 to bring sustainable smiles on the faces of deprived people. Ever since the days of inception we have been concentrating our efforts on bringing out innovative and major changes in the developmental approach of the society. It all began with a group of just a few committed people, but as time passed more and more enthusiastic and committed people came and joined us to strive for the envisioned changes. During that period there was no good communication, no electricity, no school and no health care facility in these villages along with periodic effects of flood and cyclone kept the community always in danger. All fifteen families of this small village took the decision to change this situation through their own effort, forming this new organization namely SARBIK GRAM UNNAYAN SANGHA (Total Village Development Centre). Through their own initiative they built up a house.

Gradually other activities spread throughout and now the present form emerged. Although the organization grows over the period, the real spirit lies in the voluntarism of workers, dedication & commitment to the ideology, trust on people, decentralization & delegation of responsibility and power. In my personal experience I firmly believe that if any organization works in this way it can be a role model and sustain in the long run. My experience is also that not to restrict yourself in mere developmental activities, but involve yourselves with many global issues then your work will get different meaning. Working together can lead you far (nearer to the goal). Never feel alone. You start walking in your way with your small light of ideology; you will get many like minded people in this world.
